Nothing one could buy in the '50s through the mid-'90s could be
upgraded:  they all had flaws, and players worked around them.

The thing about software updates is, they fix annoying bugs and such,
but they rarely change the character of the keyboard.  Don't buy a
clonewheel based on whether it might be great 'someday.' Figure out if
what it has is workable for your needs, and go with it.  There will
always be a newer model, probably with more features.  ("Aw damn!  You
mean the new B-2 can add vibrato on *each* keyboard separately?  My BV
can't do that!")
