Looking at the two options (Spacestation vs. 'normal' powered speaker) --

Spacestation V.3 = 106dB max. SPL

Spacestation XL = 116dB SPL

QSC K12 = 131dB peak SPL

Neglecting the difference between "max." and "peak" SPL -- might mean
the same thing, might not -- the XL is definitely about twice as loud as
the V.3.  (10dB = twice the perceived loudness by an average human.) 
But the QSC K12 is at least twice as loud as that -- and I've talked to
players who feel a single K12 isn't quite up to their stage needs.  So,
I'm not sure that a Spacestation would suffice for most gigging needs.
