Craig,
A stomp box is “designed” to be on the floor. If you listed it for sale you wouldn’t call it a stomp box would you? Also neither you or I know when this player acquired this “stomp box” regardless of the age of the clone. I got one for my XK-3 a few months ago even though the organ is much older. No correlation…..

I think that depends on your definition of a “stomp box”.. as far as I’m concerned if it’s designed to be placed on the floor and it has a kick switch on it, to switch leslie speeds and/or to bypass the effect, then it’s a stomp box (just my humble opinion of course)... My Speakeasy Preamp spend a couple of years on the floor with me stompin on it.... so stomp box..? I think so..
BTW, the T&F is a relatively new product, if this player has been using an XB2, for years, I think it’s much more likely that they’ve been using a Speakeasy Vintage Preamp rather than just picking up a T&F in the last few months. Although who knows.. anything’s possible.

So Norm and I both know a keyboard player in the Seattle area that used to play with a Joe Cocker tribute band, which by the way, I’m very proud to say that both Norm and I are the dueling keyboardists.
Anyways, one of the two former keyboard players uses a Hammond XB2, I believe. Besides having the big boy Ventilator, he has a stomp box upstream of the Vent, that was specifically designed to replicate a Hammond AO-28 preamp. Norm and I both can attest that his sound was excellent. When I speak to the guy again, I’ll ask him what the name of that box is. Obviously, it’s a boutique piece of gear.
