Subject:software clones?

I'm trying to put together a new clone set-up using computer software.
After 13 years with my current gear, I'm ready for something lighter and
easier to se up. I'm currently using an XK3 with a Casio keyboard for a
second keyboard underneath and a MIDIfied pedal board. I've been bringing
a Speakeasy preamp and a Ventilator. I'd like to have good enough sim and
EQ to not have to do that.

I'm wanting to build a double manual controller with M Audio keyboards and
use a laptop and computer software. I've thought about getting modules but
I'm probably going to be getting a laptop anyway

I played the GSI VB3 from 2011 – 2012 on my church job. It's a
comprehensive and authentic - sounding program, but I don't think it's
been updated since and I wonder about possible compatibility issues.

I've seen some free clone software programs but not heard much about them.
I play mostly jazz trio gigs where the B3 is the only sound I use, so I'm
willing to pay for a commercial program if it's going to sound better.

Has anyone been using the the VB3 currently? Are there any other programs
that are comparable?

Thanks much!

Larry
