Subject:Re: VR-09 piano Question

Hey Rock,

I played around with my 88 note Yamaha controller (KX8 is the model I think) and my VR-09 when I first got it. I noticed a couple of things.. (but this is based on my crappy memory, and it was 4 years ago)....

As far as playing organ and acoustic piano simultaneously, it worked quite well for me but if I recall correctly the organ must be set to upper part for the leslie sim to work properly (this is a limitation of the VR-09, you cannot use any effects on the lower part of a split or layer except for reverb).. I also vaguely recall that there is a midi mode for this (to use a lower keyboard) but if I recall correctly it's not necessary to put the VR-09 in this mode (I could be wrong).

So, I think that the VR-09 + 88 note controller was a surprisingly good combination as long as you could live with the limitation of only reverb on the lower sound. At the time, I kept thinking of the value that this VR-09 was!!

Hope this helps.

Craig
