if it were mine i would try and repair the panels. if you can't, get a wood furniture guy in the mix. and then get an anvil flight case for the keyboard. 
you start spraying hard to remove coatings on that, if it doesn't adhere well or takes decades to out-gas for the chemicals, you may be protecting your keyboard but endangering yourself in the process inhaling the out-gas especially if the liner has any "ene" ending chemicals. you will have problems. and killing me softly with his song may take on a literal meaning...
not to mention when you go to sell it you may not find an easy buyer.
