Subject:Re: Best Hammond Organ Clone 2017

Joe,

No it wouldn't have been that big a deal, but it would have made all of the original mojo's obsolete, and Crumar/GSI wisely decided that they didn't want to do that. I will never forget Nord making my C1 obsolete when they came out with the C2 within a year of me buying the C1 (when the differences between the C1 and 2 were in my opinion quite minor..!)..

For those unfamiliar with the Mojo, here is a bit of background.. The original Mojo came with an external windows based editor. This was an awesome way to edit the Mojo, but a bit cumbersome because you had to remove a back panel and connect a VGA display. Based on customer feedback, Crumar/GSI made a conscious decision to upgrade the original Mojo and provide an external LED display and they did so without making the original Mojo obsolete! They created the little black box "add-on" for those of us who wanted the ability to more easily edit deep parameters live, without connecting a display, and it also gave us the ability to store 6 completely different organs, which was also a feature that many users (like myself) were asking for!!

I bought my Mojo over 4 years ago if I recall correctly, and while the internals have been upgraded along the way, my Mojo is not obsolete, despite it's age. I would certainly expect that if/when a Mojo II comes out (not sure when that will happen, because the original Mojo is still the best sounding clone out there), I have no doubt that it will have either a display or, and this is much more likely, it will have the same wifi based editor that the Mojo 61 has.. This editor is awesome because it allows for an extremely streamlined interface.. with no superfluous buttons or knobs for deeper edits, and no tiny display for editing hundreds of parameters... it has JUST the controls that we typically would use in a live performance.

So Joe, the quick answer is yes, they could have installed the display, but they would have pissed off dozens of original Mojo owners by making their Mojos obsolete? Furthermore they now have a far better method of updating the product via wifi from your cell phone, tablet, or laptop!!
