Craig well said and i agree. HS could lose its footing again as the technology is not going to sleep anytime soon and we are lucky to have such a driven hammond industry whether it's from the company that brought the history with them or the upstarts.
was watching a tim mcgraw "live concert" and the "hammond" guy was getting some convincing tonewheel from nords.. although i'm not totally convinced every song in the lineup was pure live without overdubs added after the pro video was shot as certain horn tracks appeared without there being a brass section or the keyboard player playing accordion during that song wasn't playing his synth... ( i found the clip looking for bassist paul bushnell, magic 5-stringer drool on kelly clarkson's i do not hookup)

i know the band incubus after wanting a B3 for live rider went with the portable knock down with the tinkertoy furniture and the extra lower manual hammond that was out some years ago and then they got rid of that and are playing a nord if i'm not mistaken as what i spied last time i did prod work for them. just to give an idea how HS is not always king of the hill..not that i wish them ill, just that the clone wars are fierce and am happy for the comeptition.

I think you're right to a certain degree.. production/availability of XK-5's is just gearing up, and they are in short supply, so they will no doubt be demanding a premium for those people who are excited about the XK-5 and/or believe the hype. When demand settles down, and they're in full production, you'll likely see the street price go down. After all, it's a business and it's all about maximizing profit. 
However, don't forget that they have other products and they don't want to eat into SK1/2 sales or XK1c sales for that matter. Perhaps we will see the same XK-5 technology released in an SK style package and perhaps we will see a replacement for the XK1c coming as well.. I have no doubt that we will see the new engine trickle down, although I'm not so sure that the fancy new keyboard will.. BUT imagine an SK1/2 at the same price point but updated with both the new engine and the new keyboard (and maybe some improved Extra Voices)... THAT would likely sell very well.. 
However, HS isn't the only game in town.. KeyB Legend is coming. My guess is that Crumar has a few things in the wings as well (there was talk a while back about an inexpensive lower manual for the Mojo 61, that would be awesome), and maybe it's time for a new Nord engine as well.. ? 
Nothing stands still in this clone world, and thats a great thing for us..!!
