With something like the Ham-Suz XB2 what you are talking about is possible because the Leslie sim was separate and the organ tone was converted to analogue before sending to the sim. However, that was early '90s (or even late '80s) technology. The sound quality was not that great. Fast forward to the VR760 which came out in 2003, over a decade later, and you can expect to find a very limited amount of analogue circuitry. The VR760 has balanced outputs so expect there to be a few op-amps to provide the hot and cold for the XLR but expect those to be fed directly off the left and right DAC outputs.


The thing is, even in the XB2, the signal did not feed through the switch as you suggested in your original post. That was the technology used in organs up until the end of the 60s roughly, and what you find in a Hammond tonewheel organ. In the XB2, quad-analogue CMOS switches (4016/4066) are used so the panel switches only send control voltages, and link directly to the central computer which then controls the panel LEDs. In the VR760. this is likely to be all done in the digital domain, either in the firmware or hardware.

Both of you may be right about that. I don't have a service manual or schematic for the VR760 so it was just a place to start. I have seen diagrams for the VK8, a similar design and noticed a lot of analog circuitry but some of it was for the leslie connector and I have no idea how much of the VR760 is analog.
