Subject:Re: "Neo mini vent
Let me make a case for the other direction.
I used to be a Ventilator dealer, and had access to all three Ventilator
products. I own and use the mini-Vent for Organ. I do not even own a
Vent I anymore.
What I like about the mini-Vent:
* It's smaller, and cheaper.
* It has no knobs. Yes, I consider this a benefit, because it keeps
me from having to check and set the knobs at the start of a gig. My
talk box, for example, is *always* out-of-position when I grab the
pedalboard. I get my overdrive using the Gain knob on my NE3, do I
don't need to tweak the Drive on the fly. I also happen to think
that the settings of the mV4O are just about perfect for my needs.
They sound like a Leslie 122/127 to my ears.
* It has two presets that can be accessed on the fly. They can be
pretty different from each other.
What I don't like:
* It's less adjustable. This isn't a problem for me (see above), but
it might be for others. This would be a huge deal if the Vent II
weren't set up for guitar preferences at the 12:00 positions. (On
the original Vent, 12:00 gave a great starting place for the Leslie
122 sound. Maybe it didn't have something set 'perfectly' for your
tastes, but it was close. Not so on the Vent II.)
* The adjustments on the Mini are more coarse than on the Vent I/Vent
II. There are only five choices per parameter.
