Subject:Re: Acoustic Samples B-5

Graham, have you contacted Acoustic Samples and sought their assistance with these issues?

It runs flawlessly as a Standalone in UVI or inside MainStage for me.

Forte is a mainstream host on Windows that no VST or AU developer could ignore.

I have received excellent support from Acoustic Samples. UVI is a mainstream equivalent of Kontakt and used by other mainstream developers so again they would need to ensure everything works as it should in Forte.

I suggest you contact Acoustic Samples. If they can't help you to get it working in Forte then I guess you should expect a refund.

From what you are saying about issues running in UVI stand alone it would seem you have an authorisation issue which would need to resolved first.

Shame I couldn't 'try before I buy', because if I could have, I'd have never have bought it (read on).

Last night I thought I'd try it in the standalone UVI Workstation player that it runs in, and had a dreadful experience - I found it very difficult to set up outside of a sequencer or host such as Forte, the midi learn wouldn't work, and it kept crashing and at one point was telling me I didn't have a license for it - you just can't have that behaviour if you intend to play live! Also, the documentation for both B-5 and UVI W is very poor IMO. Also, I can't get enough volume out of B-5 (either as a VST or standalone) - the signal is noticeably less hot that VB3, B4 and other VSTs I use. I might try it in Cantabile, although that means more expense, so I may just write it off as 'showed great promise, but not suitable for my live environment'.
