It's not a headscratcher at all. We all want the same things (with variations hahaha!):

Best tone possible;

Best feel possible;

Best ergonomic layout possible;

Best vintage vibe possible;

Best vintage appearance possible;

Best midi implementation possible;

Most tweakability possible (though most will never tweak);

Lightest weight possible.

it must be a head scratcher for clone makers to decide where to put initial effort. getting the sound of the TG or getting the feel of a TG manual. perhaps over time the keybed will fall into place. all this for a niche market. have to hand it to these guys though.
