The multi-contact system enables you to get a funky, crackly extra "spit" in the attack when played percussively to emphasize the keying "slop" and staggered clicks; e.g., as in this solo by Keith Emerson from Tarkus (8:45-9:35, particularly near the beginning and end).

It's a nice touch of authenticity but not a must-have for me, particularly given the extra cost (and the extra complexity that hopefully will not entail long-term durability/serviceability issues).
However, I do hope they nail the chorus vibrato this time, and if so, I hope that finds its way into an upgraded XK1c soon.
