Subject:O/T Quilter Amplifiers

Hi all,


I haven't contributed much lately, but have been reading all the posts with interest.


So like so many of us in the group I am of that certain age when my body waves a white flag when I try to pick up anything more than 40 pounds. A little while back our guitar player showed up to rehearsal with a Quilter amp that is extremely light-weight about 4-5 pounds and puts out 200 watts of clean headroom. It is solid-state, but sounds just great with his assortment of pedals. I recently took a leap of faith and bought the Quilter Mini 101 head which even lighter in weight and puts out 100 watts of clean power on the Jazz and Surf modes of the amp. I have to say I am using it with two separate cabs each with a 12 inch speaker and I am playing my Privia piano and and Roland V-Combo through this set up and it sounds great. In my rehearsal space I have the amp set up using 10 watts with the gain on 3 and if I turn up the gain any higher than 3 my bandmates yell at me to turn it down. Just a recommendation if you are looking to lighten your load, do yourself a favour and check out a Quilter Amp. They do make some combo amps with speakers that would probably work great as well. Enjoy the rest of your summer people. The weather has been wonderful up here in the North East, hot and sunny with very little rain. It just sucks that my back is in revolt and I haven't been able to play any golf this summer. That is going to be remedied on September 20th when I have a spinal fusion to both decompress some pinched nerves and stabilize my lower back. Anybody in the group go through this?
