Subject:Re: OT: Wives and hearing Was: RE: hearing

It has been eons since I have contributed, but I had a recent revelation regarding hearing. My wife has super-sensitive hearing so much so the other night she heard some sounds and frequencies that the rest of us could not hear and when I went down to my office/studio play a goodnight tune lo and behold there was our second chipmunk climbing my speaker stands.
Yes my wife is always telling us to turn it down when we rehearse. Some weeks ago at her urging I went for a long overdue hearing test and since she has a minor in audiology she told me what to expect. I believe I have a reasonable level of hearing left. Well according to the technician she showed me the results of my hearing test and said that I had a moderate hearing loss at 8,000 khz and moderate loss at a lower frequency and advised me to try some hearing aids for a 90 day trial. I was shocked and my male vanity kicked in I was in denial. My wife was a little skeptical and we sought a second opinion and luckily at this juncture there would be no real benefit in wearing hearing aids. On the positive side I had professional air moulds made to preserve the hearing I have left. They are so effective I can hear some guitar, bass, drums and vocals but I am struggling like hell to hear my keyboards. Here's to hearing health.
