Subject:Re: Digital Korg CX3 (no sound) using HX3 as controller

I also would check and clean all connectors, measure PSU voltages...
It can be some crack on the boards, bad contact, problem with clock or
reset circuit... Maybe reloading of OS could help, too.

OS version can be found after starting this way:

(Switch off)
Press and hold Program 1 + Program 8 + switch on

After reading the display (and writing the version on paper) just
switch off and on again.

You can try diagnostics, at least it should reveal what's wrong:

-------------------------
H o w t o s t a r t / o p e r a t e t h e t e s t m o d e

[ P r o g r a m 4 ] + [ P r o g r a m 6 ] + P o w e r O N : Completion
test
( Internal test + External test )
[Percussion 3rd]: ITEM UP
[Percussion Soft]: ITEM DOWN
[Percussion 3rd]: STEP UP
[Percussion Fast]: STEP DOWN

N O T E :
1. When the internal test is executed, the factory preset (Preset and
Global) data is damaged. To return the factory preset data, please
execute:
[ P r o g r a m 2 ] + [ P r o g r a m 7 ] + P o w e r O N

2. It is sometimes seen that the step to the tests of DSP3, DSP4 or
keyboard become slow.
-------------------------

If you need Service Manual, it's somewhere on internet, or I can send
it.

Still I think the best you can do is to bring it to Korg service
center (if by chance you are not specialist in repairs of digital
gear). The only question is if they still repair machines older than
10 years. Here in Japan not.

Good luck!
