Subject:Re: Suitable controller for GSi Gemini DSP tabletop format?

Hi Craig,

Interesting - was it definitely the "VMK161 Plus Organ" and not the "VMK161
Plus" (which does have a different action, but identical in all other
respects)? I ask because your original post to the list about it a few
years ago stated the latter, and every write up I've seen elsewhere
suggests the action is a TP/8O. The VMK161 Plus Organ keyboard seemed close
enough to the Electro2 I was able to compare it with in the same store a
while ago, but I have to admit I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention
to the Studiologic as I was more interested in weighted keyboards and an
'all in one' solution at the time rather than a separate controller.

As far as I'm aware the only Fatar actions with different black notes are
some of the piano keyed varieties, and the classical organ ones (you can
see the different shape and finish in the photos I posted the other day).
Quite intrigued - would be good to get to the bottom of this, as
alternative waterfall action keyboards could be interesting (eg why don't
Fatar make a TP/60O, so it has longer keys much closer to the Hammond, but
with waterfall edges as opposed to organ diving board?)

Regards

James
