I think most Rock/Jazz/R&B organ playing came from the Black American
Gospel tradition. Then you guys like Ray Manzarek who seemed to be
influenced by the Indian music so popular in the late '60's, Keith Emerson
who seemed to be influenced by European Classical music, and Sun Ra who was
definitely influenced by whatever they play on Saturn...
