I am thinking about the VR-09 for a couple of reasons. I use a Nord Stage 88 and when using organ I midi to a XP60 on top. I noticed the other night when doing some organ smears on the XP I would get a midi "hangup" and have to reboot. The Roland XP does handle strings, some synth, horns, and is midi connected to Yamaha Motif ES rack. Solo synth work is on a Moog Little Phatty Stage 2. I'm sure the VR-09 would handle the XP duties better but not sure how well it will work as a controller for the Yamaha. The weight of the VR is perfect for rehearsal. I really hate that the VR doesn't have separate outputs. I have an XP 60 and an XP80. They have really been great boards but getting a little long in the tooth. I live in an area that has no music stores that cater to keyboardists so I listen to you guys and what demos are out there.
