Subject:Nord C2D vs HX3 first impressions

Hi
Reference organ is my 1937 BC in good shape.

Clock.
BC has the best click quality. You also get the separation when the partials come on at different time.

HX3.
Click is about as loud as on the BC. The click sound can be shaper. Lengt and HP filtering.

C2d.
I had to set it to max to match the BC and HX3.
C2s has a simulaton of the retrigger when you do a slapp on the Hammond keys.

VB3 has the best sound quality of click of all the clones I have heard. When you set the max clicklengt to 39 you get a similar partial turn on as om the Hammond.

C/V
BC has the chorus gen so it is a N/A here

HX3 - CV can be tweaked to sound better than the C2d

C2d. C/V is the weak spot of the Nord

VB3 - sounds just right.

Leakage.
A BC leaks like h.,,,l
It breathes ;)

HX3 - could leake more. You can selected modes and caps but I like leakage.

C2D - could leak more.

VB3 - to much low leakage on the high tones in the TG. Could leak more

Sim
BC - N/A
All sims sound ok in headphones

All sims have to much phaser effect an cabinet simulation to sound really good in a PA

Midi.
The VB3 is brilliant with the Midi learn. It works ok with my Xb3 with the aid of a midi konverter vst plug from KVR before the VB3

HX3
Does not by defaul (not in the version I am testing) support the Nord.

It handles drawbars from the xb3 when you select midi set XK.

I do not have the programing cable so have not explored the PC config program - yet :)

If i where to gut the xb3 and add the scanner card from keyboard partner i bet I could get a good organ.

Best would be if Carsten could add the midi implementation for th xb3 so it was a strait midi plug and play.

Same for Nord.

Overall sound

The BC wins ;)

HX3 has more emphasis in the midrange of the TG callibration. It bites a bit more than the Nord.

The VB3 sound very right.

Basspedal Keyllick

BC and VB3.
Nord could use more klick from the basspedals when you tap them.
