Subject:Re: SK1 sim or Vent?
I had an Electro 3-73, without Vent. Now have SK1-73, still without vent. I like the Hammond sound in general better than on the Nord, and this includes the Leslie simulator. Interestingly, my best sounding Hammond/Leslie simulator is the iPad using Korg's Module, although there is no provision for changing drawbars (vibrato can be turned on/off, no chorus).
I personally have not found reason to justify buying a Vent or Burn to add to the SK1. The SK1 has been one of my most pleasing purchases. Seems like the longer I kept the NE3, the more shrill in the upper register and the less difference when a few drawbuttons were changed. The SK1 also has ten overall presets that can be setup for ten instant changes and they work for both the organ sounds and the auxiliary sounds. I utterly despised Nord's Electro 3 when it came to patch changes, absolutely no quick way if the patches were located far apart.
