Subject:Re: SK1 sim or Vent?
I would have to respectfully disagree.. There are people using vents on all kinds of things ranging from korg cx3's to Casios to sample players like motifs, etc., and a good Leslie sim like the ventilator makes a world of difference.. The fact is that making raw organ tones is relatively easy, it's basic additive synthesis, but turning that into a good/great hammond/Leslie sound is, to my ears, the bigger challenge..
I'm not suggesting that you pick your Leslie sim first and then "back into" a clone.. But the Leslie sim is perhaps the most important aspect of clone emulation.
I think of the ventilator as "the great equalizer", because it can take a mediocre clone and make it sound great..
