Subject:Re: Drawbar registration resourcres?

A couple years ago, I was on the Korg Kronos forum talking with a bunch of members about the pros and cons on the original Kronos CX3 engine, and Kerry posted his Hoedown video as an example of how good the CX3 engine could sound.

Just a couple of comments on this... First, I'm not sure that Kerry's YouTube videos really illustrate the subtle nuances of the KE sound. As I said, you can get close with the correct Drawbars and C/V/Perc settings but the subtler aspects to the sound are another thing altogether. Secondly, I actually think that the CX3 engine is particularly good at emulating that KE sound.. Not sure why exactly, but I suspect it has to do with the way the engine is designed having two different amp sims. One of which may simply have similar characteristics to the amps Keith used in his Leslies.

If you want to hear an example of this CX3 engine emulating that KE sound go to my soundcloud account (ccmacdon) and listen to "Kronos KRS-06 KE Eruption split". This is a standard hammond patch on the new CX3 engine.. While it's not perfect, I think it just needs a little more amp/overdrive to be an excellent emulation of Keith's sound.
