Subject:Re: amplification
That's why I suggested powered studio monitors. The tend to have decent
fidelity, especially at close distance, and they can take more abuse
than typical home stereo speakers. Their biggest drawbacks are a) don't
always sound good from a distance; and b) usually made of MDF or some
similar material, which won't take road abuse (and is heavy). But for
practice room use, I find them excellent, and generally a lot cheaper
than powered stage speakers. I have a terrific stage amplification rig,
but it's overkill in many studios and practice spaces.
