I believe Dave because, based on years of knowing him and reading his opinions, he is one of a number of forum members that I would place in the "expert" category and I'm not the only one who would consider him an expert.. Dave was used as a consultant for Korg's recent update of the Kronos CX3 engine. While sometimes he's a bit overly passionate about his opinions (but who on these clone forums, myself included), his opinions are generally well thought out and supported by facts. Except his opinions about the VR-09 where his comments are unsubstantiated drivel ;-)

Seriously, I pose the question "why is VB3 basically the only clone engine that doesn't sound better through the vent" because I am curious, not because I don't believe Dave. There may very well be a valid reason given the design of VB3 software.

Last but not least, you suggest that VB3 is better than anything else available, but I can tell you that is absolutely not true! VB3CE2 contained in the Crumar Mojo is significantly better ;-) AND I think it's better than anything else available in the clone market today... However, I'm also pretty impressed with my new HX3 module, and I am going to do a side by side comparison this afternoon with our friend and member Ron Gang who is in Toronto on a holiday. I will post my thoughts on the HX3 vs the Mojo in a separate thread later today, if I have time.

Anyway, the bottom line is that the original VB3 is an awesome clone engine, we certainly agree on that, and I would be very happy to use it for live performances if I could build a reliable gig rig.. and I do think that even the original VB3 would rival most current clones..
