Subject:Clone Cabinet - update
I thought there might be a bit of interest in the "clone cabinet" from Valhalla Woodworking so I posted a link to the website a week or so ago, and I haven't seen many comments on it, but I thought that I provide a quick update... I have ordered one..
Before you all start accusing me of being the superficial type, more interested in the look rather than the sound or the performance, I have actually purchased it as a nice looking stand for my home/studio. My studio is a mess of stands and keyboards and crap this might help it to look a bit more respectable. That said, I am going to experiment to see if there is some way to build a synth module into the cabinet, and if so I could see myself using the stand to perform IF for instance I was just playing my Mojo and my Sonic Cell (which I just bought back from Ken Hall) or some other synth/rack module.
IF anyone is interested the stand is under $500 and it's quite adjustable as far as how high your clone will sit in the cabinet. I built my own B3 style cabinet myself about 10 years ago (basically identical to the top half of a B3) and I transplanted an A100 into it, and by the time I was done it must have cost me $400+ in material and tools, so I thought Byrons price was pretty reasonable.
Byron is building mine 2" deeper to accommodate my Mojo (at no extra charge), and delivery is 4-5 weeks.
