Subject:Re: Neo Ventilator 2
Hal,
No one, certainly not me, is trying to "force" anyone to buy a Burn.. I think that, in pretty much every one of my notes, I have said that the Vent II may be perfect for some people and if they're willing to pay the price, so be it. My position here is more about price point of the products, and the fact that you can get a lot more feature/functionality for a lot less. Now that HammondDave has spoken up, it's clear that I am not the only one who feels this way and questions their "curious" business practices.
With respect to the differences between the algorithm in one vent to another.. it seems to me that when it's convenient, you hear the sponsored artists and dealers in their demos saying "it's the same great sound of the original Ventilator".. then some others like yourself seem to be convinced that the newer models sound better.. so who do you believe?? No one is saying "brand new algorithm" that's for sure!!
The mini-vent turned out to be perfect for a number of people who liked the smaller footprint, and didn't need the adjustability of the sim and prefer a "set it and forget it" pedal, but that doesn't change the fact that it was after-thought/stop gap measure released in a hurry by Neo Instruments because they had nothing to sell to keyboard players due to delays in development of the Ventilator replacement, the Vent II. At the time that the Mini-Vent was released I had the same issue with price.. I thought that the Mini-Vent was way overpriced too.. But, as you point out, price isn't an issue for some!!
Again, my issue with the Ventilator is merely price point.. the ventilator algorithm sounds great, but with the quality of internal sims improving, and the competition in the leslie pedal marketplace heating up, you would think that they would price their products more aggressively. However, as long as people are willing to pay a premium for a Ventilator the price is never going to go down.
Buy whatever leslie sim you want, I'm just providing information, and my perspective on products in the marketplace.
