Subject:Re: Neo Ventilator 2
Thanks Dave, I often think that I am entirely alone whenever I buck the popular trends here on this and other forums.. Obviously, Neo Instruments have done a great job of building customer loyalty, and it started with the shocking revelation that a simple effect pedal could actually and very authentically recreate the the sound of a 122 leslie!! Who can argue with that!!!
However, their "curious" business strategy doesn't just relate to the pricing of the Vent II...! The original Ventilator was out of production for months with no follow on product.. very bad business decision!! Then the follow-on product, the Vent II, experienced a major delay... at least a year and a half based on my observations of various forums/threads (but don't quote me on that).. and then they had no product to sell to keyboard players so they decided to release the mini-vent for Keyboard which was which was simply an after-thought (a modified mini-vent for guitar) and a poorly thought out one at that ie. with no built in remote. All the while charging premium prices for their products, while they repackage the same old algorithm in 3 different coloured boxes, and promise their customers that the new features the want are right around the corner, in some other new product that will be her next week..
Seriously, I don't know why more people aren't waking up to this nonsense.. That said, the Ventilator algorithm itself is still a great sounding effect, and obviously some people are happy to pay these premium prices.. However, I think they're going to go out of business if they keep this up..
