Subject:Re: Neo Ventilator 2
Hi Norm, Lou and Jeff ...
I watched a couple "Statesboro Blues" videos by these guys on YouTube too ... I found one with camera audio from the 2013 Haverford Music Festival where the organ guy (Jeff?) was playing what looked like a Nord Somethingorother and singing, while the other was World Cafe Live from 7/6/12, where a guitar player (Lou?) carried the vocals (I preferred his interpretation) posted by band leader/"Duane" cast-member Lou Maresca. Looked like the "Gregg" cast member (Jeff?) was playing a Porta B in this second one. If he was using a Vent in either of these, it would have had to be a Vent 1.
It's really difficult for me to gauge the quality of the Vent II emulation (which I thought was the main thrust of this thread) from these videos. I cannot say that the tonewheel/leslie emulation in any of them did much to float my boat, although the Nord Somethingorother seemed far better than the Hammond. But then again, many would say that my boat isn't much more than a leaky old dinghy! Be that as it may, MOJO floats it ... without external processing ... no bailing required.
Anyway, I'm wondering, Lou, if there is there something out there more recent, featuring the current clonewheel with a Vent II, available to hear? Preferably with the audio taken off of a board feed rather from a camcorder or cell phone. Or, did I somehow miss it?
That aside, I concur, these/you guys are obviously well-rehearsed, great players and churn out highly-convincing Allman Bros. covers. One other question ... how come "Gregg" is missing the ubiquitous smoldering cigarette (and overflowing ashtray), either dangling from the corner of his mouth or contributing to scarring the top of his Hammond?
Best,
Fox
PS: Thanks Lou (and band) for contributing your talents to benefit the "For The Kids" toy run. This is a great cause and you are to be commended for donating your time and talents!

I'm the leader and 'Duane Allman' guitarist and vocalist in LIVE AT THE FILLMOREā¢, The Definitive Tribute to the Original Allman Brothers Band. I purchased a Ventilator 2 for Jeff, our keyboard player to use with his SK-2. I agree it sounds excellent. We have had one issue very recently. The 'bypass' switch is stuck in 'bypass,' probably a mechanical problem with the switch itself. Several dealers have been very supportive in helping us to correct the problem by either repairing or replacing the unit in time for our next show next week at Philadelphia's legendary Electric Factory for a benefit concert, 'For The Kids,' the largest motorcycle toy run in the U.S. in conjunction with the U.S. Marines and 'Toys For Tots.'
