That is correct.. whatever synth pad you load in and start working on, has all of the parameters ADSR, filter, etc.. set to suit the previous sound. So you have to sort of reset things..

The other thing I would suggest is that you might need more than just one of these PCM waves to create the sound. I haven't listened to them myself, however, one of those waves could correspond to the "plucking" of the string, and another wave may be the raw tone.. so you need to layer more than one of these waves to create a realistic sitar.. YES wouldn't it be easy if Roland had a sitar sound.. but not everyone may want that..

IT would be cool IF they released more additional synth tones on the axial site, but not just synthy sounds, but rather sounds like the sitar that are missing from the basic VR-09 sound set.. including mellotron sounds, and other real instruments such as the sitar.. these waves are in the PCM set so why not expand the library with more real instruments built from these tones..?

When Wes finishes the editor perhaps we can undertake to go this ourselves!!!

Good luck, building your sitar registration!!

Craig MacDonald

Thanks Craig. Well, I did create a passable Sitar sound on second try before I read this. Pretty sure the partials were on but it did not sound anything like a Sitar until I started twiddling knobs and sliders on either the IPad ap or keyboard. Unless there is some trick to it, it is really difficult to turn the" knobs" on the IPad. Apparently when you select a Wave, that sound is buried under the layers and effects that were used to create the selected synth patch that one is editing. If my hypothesis is right, eliminating or adjusting those reveals the sound of the selected Wave.
