I've had several cheap yamaha exp pedals go bad, the wire pulls off the terminals. It usually shows up on an ohm meter. That's a place to start and keep your fingers crossed it's the pedal and not the SK. Hammond is a better pedal than the yamaha for sure but they all seem to use cheap wire and it gets pulled and whatnot packing and playing
