Au contraire, mon ami. Feast your eyes on this: http://www.fastcodesign.com/3021522/innovation-by-design/mit-invents-a-shapeshifting-display-you-can-reach-through-and-touch
Increase the resolution (smaller blocks) by a factor of 200 or so (a matter of years rather than decades) and yiou will be able to instantly make weighted, semi-weighted, unweighted, sprung, hammer-action or scaled keybeds with any type of response and any shape, colour or size of keys. As long as they don't have overhangs... You will be able to simulate wood, plastic, ivory or any other surface texture. How about a Clavinet where you can FEEL the strings under the keys? THAT is the future. Hope I live to see it.
