So I won't argue that if all I wanted to do was play Hammond organ, a real B3 is probably going to be better.. HOWEVER.. for those of us who don't just play Hammond organ, but cover EP, AP, brass, strings, clavinet and all the other sounds, a real Hammond doesn't cut it.. certainly not in small venues that most of us play in.

There are numerous clones who's sound comes VERY close to the real Hammond, and many of them come with other sounds, and all of them come with Midi so they can be used to play synth modules to cover these other parts.. YOU CAN'T DO THAT WITH A REAL HAMMOND!

I played a couple of gigs at the Orbit Room here in Toronto two summers ago, and I was able to use the house B3 and while it was great playing the real thing live again, it was a pain in the ass to have to play another keyboard sitting up on top of the B3 (after years of playing all these other sounds from the lower manual of a double manual clone).

If I was going into a recording studio I might take my real Hammond leslie (I say might my Mojo is pretty close to the real thing!!).. but for my purposes, a double manual clone with midi and/or built in sounds is better...
