Subject:Re: Just What IS VASE III anyway?

I too thought it was pretty denigrating. I also think this forum has went downhill quite a bit. Maybe it is because of facebook, maybe because there isn't anything new out, but I think the level of respect amongst musicians has sunk quite a bit. And I'm not going to even play the game of " And I don't think I have been the only one not iking HamSuz products up here, has should be evident by posts from other members and, more importantly, from people switching from those products to others (the opposite may have happened but has been EXTREMELY rare)". I could name names of those in the spotlight, but what's the point. I am still going to keep active on this forum, because there are some cool people here, and I like talking about hammonds, clones, etc. but yes, we don't have to read things that start with IMHO, and I usually read them anyway as long as I respect the opinions of those who wrote it. So no, I haven't been reading your IMHO posts Jack, however the "I do not denigrate" caught my eye, so I got sucked in. I think this forum would be a lot more peaceful if we could keep from thinking we have to win people over to our particular clone by denigrating anything else out there. When I got my latest clone, I had the budget to get anything I wanted, and having tried everything out there, and heard everything out there in capable hands I rejected the one you chose Jack, as well as others but honestly I don't have this urge to say how bad they are. I think every forum out there has their drama queens, so why should here be any different? You just stay away from them so yes, I agree with Jack's advice wholeheartedly, "if you find those IMHOs irrelevant just don't read them"

One man's opinion that has been repeated at every opportunity since you joined this group. I cannot recall any other participant on the CWSG using the group as a forum to denigrate products that they don't like and have never owned as frequently as you have.

I do not "denigrate". I have pointed out precise issues I've had with that organ, even not considering the quality of the sound (that I do find far inferior to the competition). And while I never owned one I did have the opportunity to try it and try to make it work decently, even with the help of people on this group. And I don't think I have been the only one not iking HamSuz products up here, has should be evident by posts from other members and, more importantly, from people switching from those products to others (the opposite may have happened but has been EXTREMELY rare).

This group was once an excellent source of information and spirited discussion on CloneWheels. Occasionally conversations degenerated into flaming. Approximately 50% of the June 2014 have been on VASE 111. Apart from the factual comments by J Cason, JJmcS and BW the rest have been unfounded speculation or attacks on someone who actually likes a HS product as being a fanboy or undisclosed endorsee.

Someone who started the thing himself calling others "hammond haters", though. (And not by me, by the way)

The fact to fiction ratio on CWSG has probably reached an all time low with this thread.

Fiction would be? I've posted an opinion on a product. Opinion based on facts and first hand experiences. Can you say the same?

Looking at the group stats the number of posts from January to June in 2014 have fallen by 67% when compared to the same period in 2013.

And most of the mailing lists I'm on are now sadly inactive. It's called facebook, I don't like the situation but it is what it is. Most mailing lists and forum has been slowly dying in the last few years and I don't see that trend reversing, unfortunately.

This group is rapidly becoming irrelevant as a source of information and enlightenment. All that is left is endless repetition of IMHO's which gets old fast for most people.

On the contrary, asking a precise question often one obtains interesting answers. Even on this less than practical topic those service manuals and the early history of HamSuz came to light.

Time to move on.

Precisely: if you find those IMHOs irrelevant just don't read them. But I remind you: we got into this discussion because someone was NOT satisfied with VASEIII "static and uninspiring sounds" but evidently found the look of an XK3c interesting. The same person described as "awesome" when it was then suggested to him to use the two together. And only at that point I stepped in warning of the problems I've had with the midi implementation on that keyboard. Not saying it wasn't an option, just that it wasn't a straightforward one.
