Subject:Re: crashing through the snow/was more keyb news ?
The SK crashed twice last summer, both in extreme heat, no shade, the keys were literally too hot to touch. Was like playing a soldering iron. It wasn't a total crash, I just lost notes on the extra voices. Hammond stood by it, rushed a fix in, then ended up installing a new key bed free of charge. I have a feeling the first one was bad, since this hasn't been an issue with anybody elses. And that's more a fatar problem then a hammond problem to be honest.
As far as the best clonewheel goes, my vote goes to the hammond SK, and I voted with my wallet twice. But I have friends just as anal as I am about their hammond sound in love with the nords, the mojo's, etc. It comes down to taste and which instrument you bond with. I've had a lot of clones, some you struggle along with, some you just love. And for everyone it's a different one.
No as far as the new hammonds and the old hammonds, I guess since Suzuki payed for the rights to that name they're gonna use it, and I don't blame them. THey did keep the tradition going with the new B3, etc. However, having seen inside the new hammonds, and having worked on the old ones, they're definitely not twins is all I'll say!
