this is a good although OT thread as it can show how the music industry operates. it is not all glitz and glamour.

beatles influence in monkees music. the monkees theme has a hard day's night similar intro and last train to clarksville has a similar guitar run intro to the segue guitar-lick in help. even the monkees tv series was similar schtick antics to the early beatles help video/movie.

note that the monkees covered the boyce-hart not your stepping stone made famous (at least to revere fans) by the raiders, so organ figured somewhat prominently here. on the monkees version, sounds like they used a lester during the organ break.

what are the chances that a transistor "clone" through a leslie combo preamp figured on this track vs. a console with a leslie?

on the theme and last train to clarksville, those were original boyce-hart tracks using their band the candy store prophets, and with boyce and hart doing vocals, but mickey dolenz's vocals replaced them to be released as the monkees.

hart played organ on this track as well as other monkees tracks.

Anyone else note that the chords on the opening of their theme song are the exact same chords as the opening of the Beatles "Help"? Coincidence?, Hmmmmm ORF Bob
