Further to what James has said, to be clear the Kronos X is the current model, and the original Kronos 61 is an older version that will no doubt start being blown out (if it hasn't already).. the thing is that the Kronos X and the Kronos share exactly the same OS.. and the only real difference is that the X has double the storage (if I'm not mistaken). I don't store require much in the way of storage for personal samples or audio clips etc.. so the newer X provides me with no advantage whatsoever.

Right now, as far as I am concerned, the Kronos/Kronos X is the leader in the workstation arena with it's 9 synth engines, including the CX3 engine.. and because of the CX3 engine this keyboard should be of particular interest to this crowd.. It's the reason I chose the Kronos, because it can function as a drawbar organ, unlike some other workstations (like the Yamaha Motif). With the recent OS update of the CX3 engine, the Kronos is no longer a mediocre facsimile, it's sound is right up there with todays current clones.

I have had my Kronos for close to 2 years now, and I have to say that it is an outstanding keyboard for my purposes, and as you see it blown out at your local music store, keep in mind that it's a "highly recommend" from me.. The only negative thing that I see/hear is comments about the long boot time.. That may be the case, but I have never had a problem with mine and had to reboot so from my perspective its a moot point.

At $1499 it's a great buy however, if it is something they're trying to clear out, you should try making them an offer.. you never know what they might accept.
