Responding to the virtuoso on good/bad gear argument: I agree 100 percent that a virtuoso player will sound better on less than ideal gear wile a poor player will still be a poor player no matter what gear they use. However, part of being a virtuoso player is the need to get the best sound possible, and that implies using the best sounding gear. The reality is that almost all of us are somewhere between the two extremes and have to play on the gear that we can afford.

Christian,
I am going to suggest that you reconsider your decision to unsubscribe (based on the assumption that you haven't yet done so).
I don't think that there was any intention to insult you, or your abilities, and I honestly think you are being too sensitive. The suggestion that a good player can make anything sound good is a common theme here in this forum where we talk about clones with various degrees of authenticity ranging from completely crappy to awesome.. Most of us recognize that we often get far to focused on minute aspects of our instruments and we forget that what really matters is our performance.
There is nothing insulting about that statement, it's simply one of the truths that we use to "reset" ourselves when we get far to worried about some insignificant detail, which we often do.
I would encourage you not to take this the wrong way and stick with the group!
Thanks.
Craig
