Norm,
I'm assuming that you have version 1.03 with the new Wurlitzer? The new one has an asterisk in the beginning of the name. A lot of folks seem to really like it, but if you're looking for a really specific vibrato, you could find the vr-09 effects a challenge to get exactly what you like. The vr-09 effects are great but they have limited editability. You can't change the order of effects chains or fine tune effects parameters, AND in the case of the EPs Roland has chosen to use one knob to control two parameters simultaneously, in the case of the wurly vibrato speed and intensity. So you can't get a real intense slow vibrato, because as you increase the intensity the speed increases as well. It's one of those areas where Roland has made some compromises.
As you said, the vr-09 is great value, but you get what you pay for. It's not the ultimate clone or all in one, but it would be unreasonable to expect that for $800. Glad you're finding some magic in it.
