Subject:Re: Ventilator II Questions
Hi,
I'd just like to share my opinion etc on the new Neo Vent, I personally feel the Vent 2 is a big improvement over the original Vent. I bought my first Vent about four years ago and loved it, I even bought a 2101 Mk2 and sold it as I thought the Vent sounded better.
There is definitely more edge to it and better output, the extra settings are handy but for me its the improved sound that nails it. This is something that's not mentioned in the Vent 2's improvement list, which is a great pity because many will assume its the original with a few more tweaks available, and to my ears this is not the case, its also been mentioned on a Neo Vent Facebook group that most buyers are reporting sound improvements, so apparently I'm not alone here.
A friend of mine who also has a Vent also bought a Burn but decided to sell the Burn as he thought, like me, the Vent definitely had the edge, he really struggled to sell the burn but eventually sold it for a lot less than he would have liked, he then sold his Vent to buy a Mini Vent, the Vent BTW sold immediately and for a good price to, he was that impressed with the Mini Vent he has since upgraded to the Vent 2 with no regrets at all.
I was even luckier than him, I sold my original Vent about a month before the Mk2 was released and I got £320 for it, the Mk2 cost me £325 inc delivery, so for me it was a free upgrade and well worth £5 !!
I use my Vent with a Hammond XE200SE using a specially adapted cable which separates the other voices etc from the Drawbars and it sounds amazing, yes I know its not up there with all the new clones but to me that really doesn't matter, the Vent sorts that out and most of all I like the user interface this Organ gives me, it just feels right when I sit at it, and I can fully understand why some would prefer the XK3c for this reason.
Also I have no desire or need to use Midi to control the speed etc, I'm old school, I kick the footswitch to the side of the expression pedal. One more thing I would mention is the Vent 2 handles Reverb from the Organ a lot better, if I used to much reverb with the original I could hear a slight unwanted phasing effect.
Am I happy with the new Vent............what do you think?
Cheers, Keith
