Subject:Re: Got my Burn unit

Got mine yesterday, tried it out last night.

Three words: Potential Vent killer. (And I own a Vent).

Now, I'm not a B3 expert like you guys. I don't know nothing' 'bout half moon switches and Leslies and ramping up tubes and all that. All I got is a Hammond XK3C and a cheap Phonic keyboard amp.

So, bearing this in mind, to my untutored ears, I'd say that after going through all of the Burn settings this little beast sounds to me every bit as good as my Vent. And the additional features it includes definitely make it more versatile. Build-quality wise it's probably more fragile than the Vent (I wouldn't use it as a stomp box, like others have said).

My only light quibble is that it's kind of annoying that when you chance presets it turns off the rotating effect. Maybe there's a way to keep the rotors spinning by default?

My other question is that even though it includes a setup for allowing control of the speed function using an XKC3, I'm not sure exactly what I need to do on the XK3c to activate this. Pitchwheel? Expresion pedal? Footswitch pedal? Not sure. If someone knows, please let me know.

Mark that is exactly what this preset does.. stationary low rotor (ie like it's disconnected ) and only the horn spins (chorale or tremolo)

That's the Memphis sound and that's preset 7..

I may be wrong, but isn't the "Memphis" sound consist of the lower rotor being stationary with only the horn being able to rotate?
Does the Burn emulate that configuration? That would be a really cool preset if it does!
