Subject:Burnin' B! (slightly off-topic cross-post from MojoMusicians)
So I installed the line-out kit on my B and connected it through Burn.
BURN ROCKS ... once you get the output level from the AO28 low enough to
avoid clipping it. Burn's digital clip is really nasty...and not in a
"good" way.
There are a couple of things I find irksome. First,
the line out kit causes my 122s to hum (they must have forgotten the
words), but that's not major, 'cause they're going away. The other
thing, however, is REALLY annoying.
I'm using Burn in the mode
that allows the "stop" switch to be used to kick tube distortion in and
out. Unfortunately, when you do this, the sound cuts out for half a
second or so while the tube distortion kicks in! Why????
And,
again, WHY on earth did they decide to make this unit incompatible with
the half-moon and foot switches they already manufacture for Mojo?
Makes absolutely zero sense to me.
Yep ... the ability to switch via midi is cool, but vintage Hammonds predate midi! Oy!
Sooo
... initial impression with a stock, vintage Hammond console (which is what makes this slightly off-topic ... it's not a clonewheel) is good,
overall. I just miss the 2-second response gap between hitting the
half-moon and the Leslies ramping up. Oh well ...
Peace,
Fox
