Mike,
Yes, my understanding is that this is the case.. and JukeFox was complaining about this, but I think that everyone is forgetting that you simply use midi to control the rotary speed from the Mojo (or whatever) to the Burn.. So you plug your halfmoon into your mojo (as normal) and you simply plug a midi cable from the mojo out to the burn in, and set the Burn to respond to the Mojo in the "midi settings" section (they have most common clones available to choose from.. sk/nord/Korg etc...), and you're all set to go.. whenever you change the halfmoon on the mojo, it sends the appropriate midi controller message to the Burn and it response accordingly.

Craig MacDonald

Subject: Re: [CWSG] Re: Got my Burn unit
Mark,
The build quality is good however, when you see it, the idea of using it as a stomp box just doesn't sit right with me.. I'm going to have to get a remote control for this thing and/or control it via midi (the easiest).
I don't think it's quite as robust as the Ventilator, which has all of the controls nicely recessed. The Burn has an LED display on top, along with the big rotary encoder (black knob) for controlling parameters, and both are exposed just a few inches above the stomp switches.. I can't help thinking that if I start stomping on this thing at some point I'm going to damage the rotary encoder. So I think I'll be setting the Burn on top of my Mojo, rather than underneath (actually with midi and presets you can put it anywhere).. That said, I wouldn't think twice about using the Ventilator as a stomb box, but if you don't have a remote control you have to, because it doesn't allow for midi speed switching..
So it's reasonably robust, but I will probably have it sitting on top of my Mojo rather than on the floor and I will probably be using midi to change speed and presets rather than stomping on it.

Craig MacDonald

Craig,
How's the build quality of the unit?
My Ventilator is quite robust.
