Spurred on by a recent discussion here, I removed the 13-note bass
pedalboard from an old derelict Yamaha spinet and am now contemplating how to
midi it to my MOJO.
Our friend Frederick
Somerville has successfully used the Doepfer MBP25, 70 Euros incl. pwr
supply: http://www.doepfer.de/home_e.htm.
I did some more research and came up with these:
For$75: http://midipedals.com/store/ products/cygnus_adapter/ They
give plenty of instructions and there's no need it seems to learn midi
programming, just change jumpers for midi channel out, and you can have up to
32 notes. Unfortunately they are out of stock, so one has to
pre-order into the next batch.
Another one and cheaper at $45 is http://store.highlyliquid.com/ products/midi-cpu though
this may present a small technical challenge, yet they have a good
support forum and might be the best choice.
Still,
another one is from the Czech republic is: http://www.beriomidi.info/ eng/body2.htm,
and I have written them for a price and shipping quote.
What
is nice is that all of the above controllers can be used with up
to a 32 note pedal-board.
There is
yet another one (Basyn) for $55 but it is set for a 13 note board only and
seems very skimpy on literature or support: http://www.basyn.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=5
Anybody have any experience or heard
anything about any of these?
cheers,
Ron
