In a complicated and very time-sensitive deal, got a chance to buy a
Roland PK-7 Bass Pedal unit (w/expession pedal, etc.)
and a
Hammond(-Suzuki) XM-2/XMC-2 duo
for $1000.
After RTFMs and everything else I could find on 'em via Google,
I'm havin' trouble getting my head around a few of their concepts and possibilities.
As we all know, despite their enticing "yeah man!" attributes, these units have such outrageously high MSRPs (and even "street" prices) that they've probably scared most of us off of buying/using 'em.
Nevertheless, perhaps there is someone here that owns &/or has experience with these units, and would care to share any thoughts.
P.S.- using my trusty XK-1 as my main axe,
the idea would be to use the PK-7 as (MIDI'd) bass pedals for it.
However, the PK-7 OM seems to indicate that this rig may only hook up with a VK-7 or VK-77 (etc.?). Would the PK-7 work with the XK-1, for my intended purpose?
Now, the XM2/XMC-2 is a pair that work only with each other, so fine. Pretty much an XK-1 without the keyboard, it seems.
This combination would need to be MIDI'd to - one or two or three - MIDI keyboard/bass pedal controllers. Heck, could be an entirely separate Hammond tone generator for a second/lower manual.
Anyways ..... Thoughts? Suggestions? Observations?
