I remember my sister took my dad to a fly fishing school once, the teacher used that saying about the fishing poles, and my sister immediately told him "No woman ever told you that", my dad thought he was gonna die.
As the saying goes – "It's not the size, it's what you do with it."
Having said that I'm now tryng to relearn my playing technique on two manuals, having gotten a Mojo a month ago.
I had spent two hours with an SK-2 in Long & McQuade's a few months ago in Toronto, and I thought it was really nice, the only thing that bothered me on it was the single set of drawbars, with which I couldn't figure out to comfortably work . Then I went over try the Nord C2D and its sound and flexibility blew down the SK-2 for me. The only thing was that to ship that axe over here and pay customs on it would really jack up the price which wasn't cheap to begin with. So economics favored the Mojo, plus its rave reviews and lack of detractors, which turned out to be the most affordable of a new two manual organ. No regrets!
Now I'm thinking of adding some bass pedals – is a one octave pedal board adequate for a player without octopus co-ordination?
At this stage of life I certainly won't even approach Shirley Scott's prowess to do exquisite bass runs with my feet.
Mojo has 13 note pedal board for about $500, and then I'm considering cannibalizing an ancient Yamaha spinet for its pedals and adding a midi control card to it.
Mojo also gives the possibility of using a momentarily-on express pedal for bass tapping a single note, BTW.
Cheers
