Subject:Re: Keyboard facade
About 5 years ago I made a "CX-3-alike" cover for a Casio WK-3000 that I was using in a Blues Brothers tribute band, after a critic wrote a bad review highlighting the supposed "toy-like" quality of the keyboard (it actually has excellent Hammond/Leslie, piano and electric piano sounds for the price).
The cover was extremely light-weight but quite rigid when assembled. It was made from corrugated plastic, readily available as unwanted estate agent/realty signs or from supermarkets where it is used to separate layers of milk cartons.
I made panels for the ends and half-width panels for the top and back, with a cut-out to access the controls, and then covered each panel with wood-grain Contact paper/Fablon.
I used Velcro tabs on the inside as hinges and connectors, and the finished structure folded completely flat to fit in the keyboard's soft case, and rested neatly on top of the keyboard when assembled.
The band called it my "Plastic Hammond"!

I'm looking for something made of very light weight material that can be folded up for transport. It doesn't have to be a wood like material either. It could be some kind of plain black material.
