Indeed. Despite all his big talk, Jimmy Smith never learned to play pedals properly, which is why most jazz organists cop out and use the left hand bass technique. To see it done properly, watch Barbara Dennerlein, Rhoda Scott, Hector Olivera, or Cameron Carpenter.
