Well that's absolutely true.. the VR-09 does not feel like a real hammond, it's a compromise, but none of the clones out today has a "perfect" Hammond 3 series feel and interface...! The New B3, Hamichords and the KeyB's are pretty close, but still not perfect.. Everything other than a real Hammond is a compromise, the question is really is to what extent you're willing to compromise.. !
The VR-09 has a decent Hammond/leslie, acoustic piano, electric piano, and a sample player with a large library of sounds and a Jupiter virtual analog synth in one package that weighs 12 pounds and all for $999. For all that value, at that cost... I'm willing to compromise a bit on the sound and feel!!!
Most of us "keyboard" players have learned to live with, and love, a lot of different keyboards over the years with various different interfaces and feels.. We've had 3.5 octave keyboard on minimoogs, weighted acoustic pianos vs lightweight waterfall keyboards on our hammonds, clavinets with their picky feel, and even keys that feel kind of like cardboard (my best way of describing a mellotron keys). My first DX7 amazed me, and I can't even remember what that felt like,) and neither can I remember what every one of my dozen different keyboards felt like over the years.. I JUST ADJUSTED TO THEM!!!!!! We have all adjusted to different keyboards and interfaces over the years and most of us will continue to do so..
Yes the VR-09 is a compromise, and what we are/aren't willing to compromise about will differ from person to person.. but from personal experience the VR-09 is pretty easy to adjust to. I will also add that based on my observations of various different forums that discuss clones, I can't recall anyone who bought one who is not happy with their VR-09, even those who didn't initially like the feel f the keyboard have found themselves easily getting used to it.
Regards,
Craig MacDonald

That's the one thing that's still the elephant in the room for me with the VR09. Nobody seems to want to reference that but it does not feel at all hammond like to us used to the real deal. ---In CloneWheel@yahoogroups.com,
