Regarding the 2 volumes knob, I don't know the instrument but perhaps the right one controls also the "character" of the instrument (as in many clones: more volume makes it also "dirtier", more aggressive) while the other is a general digital volume knob?

Regarding your problem…Mmmmhh, perhaps the pedal is dirty? You could try to disassemble and clean the inside…
